In a world that feels overwhelming, uncertain and tumultuous, taking a morning moment to ground ourselves is very helpful and important.
Join me for a 30-minute morning practice of peace chanting. You can think of this as your own personal moment and as a prayer sent out into the universe. We will do this in a call and response format so everyone is welcome. No experience is necessary, just an open heart and mind.
The idea that prayer can ripple out into peace in the world isn’t about a single moment magically changing everything. It is more subtle, and more human than that. Prayer and chanting shift your state of mind. When you wish for peace, you may notice that you become calmer, more patient, and less reactive. You also may experience an inner change over time and how that change influences how you speak, how you handle conflict, and how you treat others. Peace, in that sense, starts to move outward through everyday interactions to our families, workplaces, and the communities in which we live.
There’s also a collective effect. When people gather in shared prayer, chanting, and/or meditation, it can create a strong sense of connection and empathy, a feeling of “we’re in this together.” This can soften our hearts. It probably will not erase global conflict, but it can reduce the small tensions and frictions that accumulate over time.
My intention is that this chanting can uplift you personally and can reinforce values like compassion, forgiveness, and humility. Hopefully, feeling these emotions will contribute to more peace. And just maybe, this sense of peace can multiply, one relationship at a time.
I will send a document with the peace chants in pdf format so you can follow along if you like.
